i totally (and literally) made one of my students light up and jump for joy at understanding the fundamental theorem of calculus this afternoon.
she came in to see me today and commented "i know this is huge and important, but we did it so fast in lecture yesterday and i totally don't get it"
when she suddenly clicked with what was going on while i explained it, she totally lit up and then commented "wow! that's what we've been working 12 weeks to get to -- that's sooo cool!"
after 3 recitation sections this morning that did get increasingly better (but the first one was rough... i can DO riemann sums... they're just hard to explain in more than one or two different ways), it made my day to see a student totally get excited and think a big theorem was cool instead of more annoying work to do.
anyhow, that makes me smile.
tired, and will be glad when today is done... seminar in half an hour.. later dudes.
