my REUers like me :) (yay!)

so today was day 2 of preliminary REU presentations. the first guy to get up there showed his first power point slide which read "happy birthday lara!", and everyone applauded.

after presentations one of the girls asked me what i was up to tonight and i said i was going out with friends... then she asked "what about tomorrow night? can we please take you out for your birthday?" i told her "if you plan it, i'll show up", so within the next 15 minutes she mass emailed the REU students email list and told them they were taking me out tomorrow night and to rsvp to her so that she can coordinate rides. how cool is that?

they're a good group of kids already, but this just makes me smile even more. :)
