the voyage of the dawn treader and other such fun

things accomplished today

* helped dad wrap presents for mom and decorate
* helped mom go christmas shopping for dad
* walked over 4 miles, and jogged for a bit of it for the first time in awhile without my gimpy knee killing me partway through
* read some math, but not a lot... posets of permutations sounds like fun, right?
* finished The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

all in all a quality day.

all this typed, if you haven't read them, i highly recommend (re)reading the chronicles of narnia. in preparation for the movie, i reread the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe over thanksgiving break. since then i read prince caspian, and now i've finished book 3, and have 4 left to go. my grandma gave me the boxed set of them when i was in like 4th grade. i read them all around 5th grade, but hadn't again since. the first one was very familiar throughout, as were parts of the 2nd, but after chapter 1, i totally didn't remember the voyage of the dawn treader, so it was a totally new adventure to me. even with what i do remember, i'm catching much more of the symbolism this go around than i remember catching before. they really are a beautiful set of books. there's no use spoiling adventures for you if you haven't read them... all this is just to say, if you want a quick and quality read, read the chronicles, they really are fantastic. :)

the end.
