ode to buying shoes

it's that time of year again -- the week where it suddenly changes from highs in the 40s to highs in the 60s... the week where i get to wear sandals again without my toes turning blue... (because after all i do hate socks and much prefer bare feet)

earlier in the week i dug out last year's sandals -- wearable but in need of replacement

so today (payday), i went by payless to get a new pair. normally this is not newsworthy, but one thing made me happy.

i buy men's shoes.

not for like dress shoes or whatever, but for a decent pair of sandals, i go straight to the mens shoes section.

i wear 11 or 11.5 womens size shoes and the selection is generally lacking for size 10.5 and higher, AND all the womens shoes freakin hurt your feet... they're much more about appearance than comfort. you go to the guys shoes section and they're oodles more comfortable, plus 9 or 9.5 size guys shoes gets like its whole own row.

so here i am trying on different sandals in the mens section when lo and behold i saw another lady down in the mens size 7.5-8 section doing the same thing. yay for people who would rather buy comfortable shoes than pain-causing decorated ones. i was happy to see i'm not the only one who does that :-)

the end.
